Back in 2001, it had been 2 years since I finished my a-levels and was into the 2nd year of my 'year out'. I had no plans to go to uni, it didn't feel right for me yet...so got a full time job whilst I pondered what life would have in store for me. Working was fine, but I still needed something more. I recommend Camp America 100% I honestly think that every teen/twenty something should do this once in their lifetime. It completely changes you as a person. The Camp America program itself is a good one. The money isn't amazing, but you get your board and food - what else do you need? I would honestly pay to work at camp! (shhh don't tell them that!) The staff in the UK office are super friendly - especially Leah, Lyndsey and Libby. The interviewers are just an email away to answer questions and Camp America runs a crazy orientation day for all it's new staff to answer questions and worries they may have. The first week of ...

I too did a summer with Camp America, back in the summer of 2001 and yes it was amazing! I was at university trying to figure out what to do with myself after I finished - get a job or hang on to freedom for a little longer. I opted for the latter and boy I'm glad I did. To begin with, after all my aplication forms were sent off, I had to attend an interview with a previous participant to make sure I was suitable (relax if you have one, they're there to help). next was the visa application which now I believe involves travelling to London to queue for it.
