Advantages: Can create your own safari holiday, easy to use site
Disadvantages: Poor google rating, not enough pictures
I have recently returned from a safari trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. I looked at many websites offering similar services. I ended up stumbling across a site called www.discovertanzania.org, they had a section on their site that allowed me to create my own tour and not have to follow a set itinerary, although the also have those. In the end had a great safari and beach holiday in Zanzibar, just wanted to spread the word as thought it was a bit different.
The company offers safari, beach and cultural holidays to Tanzania and Zanzibar. This includes hotels national parks and other exertions, as well as internal flights and transportation. Flights to and from Tanzania and Zanzibar are not included in the pricing, but can be arranged.
The Navigation of the site it quiet easy to use. There is a menu at the top of the page which allows you to chose where you want to go. There is also a menu on the right hand side of the page. This is the same menu as the top of the page but is in the style of large buttons. This may help people who have trouble reading small text, but it also allows the section of the site you want to stand out so you don’t have to spend a long time thinking of where to click. In the main body text on all pages there are links to the key sections of the site e.g. the word ‘safari’ is a link, therefore allowing you to easily access the safari page.
The create your own safari section is very simple to use. First you chose what date you want to fly out to Tanzania or Zanzibar and then the number of nights you wish to stay, these are drop down menus. You then get a list of accommodation to view. Each hotel is rated. Once you have chosen which hotel you wish to stay in and for how many nights you can view a map to see the options of where you can go to next. The price is automatically calculated on screen. Once the itinerary is completed and details have been completed it is emailed to the company.
The design of the website is quite easy on the eye. Subtle use of colour has been used, so its not too bright and in your face. The main colours used throughout the site are green and brown. I feel they could use more pictures however to give you a greater understanding of where you will be traveling, for instance there is only one photo for each national park, where more may be helpful.
Contact details are on the site, there is a telephone number as well as a submit form and email address.
Summary: If you fancy creating you own safari trip online then discovertanzania.org is pretty good

- 07/09/07 Hey, guys. Thanks for your messages. I'll try and write a bit more fizzywizzy, you made some good points. Ames123, yes the price was reasonable, i compared it with a couple of other tour operators, however I created my own holiday online so was only roughly able to compare it with other sites set itineraries. Hey Miss Gretta, thanks for the welcome. |
