Disadvantages: Cost me £30 for cos I had no hand luggage

Watch out First Choice Airlines will rip you off.
In line with airport security advice and to ease congestion in the aircraft we (myself and partner) had no hand luggage other than money and travel documents. Our two young boys had their Game boys for the flight packed in a small ruck sac; our total hand baggage was less than 3Kg between the 4 of us.
Our hand baggage total allowance is 5 Kg each
Checked bang allowance is 20Kg each.
Because we checked everything, we checked in 84Kg. 4Kg over. First Choice charged us £30 excess baggage despite the fact that we were in fact 17Kg under on our hand baggage allowance. The jobs worth idiot seemed to get great satisfaction from telling us we could remove some clothes from our case and carry them as hand luggage. Need less to say we will never fly Last Choice again.
