Advantages: accurate brochure, organised
Disadvantages: little legroom on plane
MMMmmmm, I was getting that little tingly feeling when I feel a new dooyoo opinion writing binge coming on, ( you know, your mind starts to tick over with thoughts, how you are going to say this, phrase that), but, ( for once), I thought I would take a quick peek at what other dooyooers have said about my latest choice for an opinion. Oh God! Everyone, without exception, has said the total opposite of what I had planned to say about 'First Choice' holidays. Some were most vitriolic and condemning in their opinions it almost put me off writing one altogether, ( not quite though, as you can see). Anyway, I consoled myself with the thought that this what dooyoo is all about, putting opinions down on paper, ( even though it is virtual paper), and letting people make their own minds up. So here goes . . . . We have just come back from a week away in Cyprus which we booked through the Co-Op travel agents and was a holiday put together from the 'First Choice' brochure. I cannot comment, therefore, about the travel agent experience, only the holiday itself. The first choice brochure, I felt, was reasonably informative and full of really nice photographs of the various locations. 'I'll believe that when I see it', was my feeling. To my complete amazement the photographs in the brochure do not really do the locations justice, (at least not the one we went to). They can be said, therefore, to be an accurate representation of both the location and the venue for the holiday of your choice. We found the flight arrangements to go perfectly smoothly, (even though we did experience some delay, I don't think that can be laid at the door of 'First Choice'). The holiday representatives were present on arrival, were pleasant, informative and attended their specified contact times punctually and were remarkably tolerant to some of the more vindictive customers they, unfortunately, had to deal with. The apartments were clean and we
ll appointed and were ready for our arrival, as were the staff of the holiday complex. All in all, I cannot find much fault in the way our holiday was organised, it all went very smoothly indeed, ( even though a few minor glitches did creep in, these were no the responsibility of the tour operators). I would use 'First Choice' again, they were our first choice this time, and I think they may be so next time too!

- 10/06/01 Never travelled with them, or read any of the other ops, but I have heard good things about them, both from friends and the travel agents rate them as a close second to Thomsons. We have looked at their brochures, but always found their affordable accommodations to be too far out of the main resorts for our liking.
Good op.

- 06/06/01 I've heard a lot of people complain about them, but I think it's a case of the satisfied people not getting up and saying so , so we end up with only half the picture...a most interesting op. |
