I work for First Choice, this includes several companies under this umbrella:
Unijet, Sunquest, Sunstart, Hayes and Jarvis, Sovereign. They have travel agencies also - First Choice Holiday Hypermarket and Travel Choice. I work for the Hypermarket.
All of the reviews Ive read on here are rubbish! Ive worked for other companies also, and you can have a bad holiday with any of them, weather it be Airtours, Thomson's, Cosmos or whoever! Hotels get over booked, building work occurs after bookings have been made, prices change with different edition brochures! This is the same with all travel agencies and tour operators. Thats the point that im trying to make actually, that bad things can happen with any tour operator/travel agency! Its happened to me on my holidays in the past!
And if the accomnmdation isnt up to standard, then remember this, you get what you pay for! Do you have any idea how many requests I get each day for "something cheap"! If you want it cheap, you'll get cheap accommodation! If you want 4 star, then pay for it!
Dont get me wrong, im sure we have lacked in customer service at some points, as will all agencies and operators. Don't be put off, with any company! There all practically the same!
