Disadvantages: not when they make a mistake

We booked our family holiday 1 year in advance and were very happy with the service at that time, however 4 months before our holiday we went in to pay off our balance and book car hire. When checking over the holiday details it became apparent that our accomodation type had being wrongly booked and instead of two twin bedrooms and a sofa bed we had being booked one double bedroom, one single room with bunk-beds and a sofa bed. The problem being that we were taking my parents, our daughter & my husband & I are not built for bunk-beds. When we questioned this we were told by one member of staff that we could only have this room on the chosen dates and that this would have being explained to us, however a different member of staff (a manager) told us that they they were not aware of the differences and that we could change the holiday dates at our expense of £900.00 as the holiday date would coincide with peak season. I had numerous conversations with going places head office but because it did not say on our booking form that we had booked a certain type of room then unfortunatly without us paying the difference there was nothing that they could do. I have previously used this company for all of my holidays as well as my honeymoon but unfortunaly even though they could see from my records that i was a loyal customer they still were not willing to help. We continued with the holiday and with the car hire. When we reached resort the car hire information that we had received was also incorrect and after many calls back to going places in the UK we cancelled our car hire whilst on holiday, however this time we had everything in writing and received a refund when we returned back home. I found during this experience with going places that the staff will tell you anything to make a sale & in future get every little thing in writing.
Our rep in resort also confirmed that she had being receiving customers all season expecting different room types. Including elderly customers that had being put in Bunk rooms.

Summary: Get everything from this company in writing no matter how little an issue
