Disadvantages: lack of customer care, useless tour guide, lack of information as regards trains, shops etc
We travelled to Paris with Gold Crest in April and first we were given the wrong pick up point, then the coach we travelled into to the main coach was freezing cold with only one stop (this on a 186 mile journey). Boarded the main coach to be greeted by two of the most incompetent employees Gold Crest must employ! Driver appeared drunk and slurred his speech so much we could not understand a word. No tea or coffee on board, no entertainment on board and the driver's g/f who was meant to be attending to passengers gave anyone a flea in their ear if they dared to complain about the heat or lack of drinks!!
No customer service whatsoever throughout, tour 'guide' which GC say is not a guide!!) knew NOTHING about Paris at all and after starting a sentence failed to finish and hung up her mike! many many times....she even referred to one of the main landmarks as 'like we have in the UK' showing an absolute ignorance of the city.
Kyriad hotel was lovely although very far away from centre of Paris. Due to change of itinerary we were taken to paris for the day and our tour papers said we would be there till early evening - we were actually dropped off at 10am and picked up at 9pm!! Who on earth spends that amount of time walking around Paris?? I had developed a problem with my hip earlier that week and the walking absolutely killed me being combined with the cold and rain. All the driver could say was I should have taken the train back to the hotel....customer service NIL again. We missed dinner due to returning back to the hotel so late and no one was happy at all.
Following day I gave up my ticket to some lovely ladies for Versailles as I felt quite ill after walking around for such a long time the previous day and again the coach dropped them off in Paris until 10pm at night, dinner missed again. Same thing next day with everyone complaining now. We chose to do our own thing and I'm pleased we did - other passengers said they wished they had too. Utter complete waste of time according to the passengers we spoke to as driver got lost in Paris, then arrived too late for the passengers to see the sights promised.
I have written to GC and as I thought they would, they deny any lack of customer service. I have been on other coach holidays and never experienced such a dreadful lack of customer service and care. Don't go near them with a barge pole
