I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing caravans so I didn't take the matter any further at the time. I have since contacted Haven about the cot rail and they said that the newer caravans aren't made to have them so they are not available but this is not stated anywhere when you ... more

We recently spent a week at the Haven Golden Sands site at Mablethorpe. We usually spend our holiday at Mablethorpe but have never stayed on the site before. This year we were booking late and all the sites we usually use were sold out. My Husband didn't want to go to Haven but I eventually persuaded him that our three children all under six would enjoy it. We got there a little bit early for check in but thankfully got our keys straight away. We then tried to find our caravan and the only road leading to it had been blocked off by orange cones so that they could herd all the new holiday makers to the temporary car parks. We eventually managed to get to ...  Read the complete review

Check in was in the main (in fact, only, for five nights of the week) place with evening entertainment Falcon show bar that has stained carpet that your feet stick to and smells of stale beer. On arrival you are handed a card with a character on it and when they shout out the name of your character thats when you can queue up to check in. Our card was called greedy - yes, that's right - greedy. Unfortunaetly, they didn't turn the music down when they shouted the names out so we just had to guess. On check in we were given a poorly copied map of the site which was difficult to read as blurry. On arrival to our caravan we found... 1 Blue sandcastle shaped ...  Read the complete review

Express Review on Golden Sands Holiday Park

I have just arrived home from a long weekend at Golden Sands, Mablethorpe. After reading the reviews I was anxious to say the least about going to this park, however I telephoned in advance and explained my concerns, I paid extra for an upgrade to a prestige model caravan. When I arrived at the site I looked at the very old slide which can be seen from the road and thought "oh no". Was allocated my caravan which wasn't up to my standards, however was reallocated into a new caravan which was lovely. the site was clean, didn't use the facilities but they looked ok, shop well stocked but pricey. Location Fab, the Beck pub serves good food beach clean and nice. Overall great weekend!!!

On arrival we were given a warm welcome and our passes until we could check in at 4. We were allowed to check in at 3.10 and given all the information we needed and headed off to our caravan. I thought we had walked into a 5* hotel as it was so clean and fresh it looked so nice well impressed our beds were all made up for us and we had heating in all rooms a microwave and freeview tv + dvd player all this for £130 mon to fri 2 adults and a dog superior plus. We had a wonderful holiday mostly spent on the beach just accross the road or the pub ALSO accross the road. very reasonable prices and friendly staff and dog friendly too. The beach and dunes are amazing with ...  Read the complete review

Golden Sands Holiday Park: stay in the garden and throw money in the bin (256 words)

i give it 1 star on the basis that the caravan was lovely and i can't put 0. Unfortunately that's the only good thing i can say. Navigating rows and rows of caravans = pain. To get in the "entertainment bit" you must have passes, i saw security turn away 2 children aged about 8 and 10 for not having a pass, with no other way in and no phone i have no idea how they found their parents. The entertainment part should come with a wealth warning we found a free play area which was rubbish. Having stayed at butlins we were shocked that the fair and sports were astronomically expensive, the teddy machine at butlins which is emptied 3 times a day didn't look ruffled in ...  Read the complete review
