Advantages: the beach, the caravan
Disadvantages: site looks outdated
This is my review of golden sands that I originally wrote on the BV review site before I switched to using doo yoo:
The pros:
We stayed here on two sun £9.50 holidays in october for to years in a row. The caravans we had were in teak bank section this was right at the back of the park which suited us as it was quiet.
Both caravans we had were big and clean with adequate equipment.
The beach opposite the site is fantastic with miles of golden sands. There is a good bus service into town during season just outside the park. There is also a sand train that runs on the beach and a road train that both go into town.
The cons:
When we checked in we were given a number and had to wait till it was called out before we could collect our keys. This took a while. However this may only happen on sun deal holidays as most of us there were on them.
In the caravans the pillows and douvets were a bit thin but were clean. However in colder months such as october it may be an idea to take a hot water bottle/ blankets.
The shop was overpriced and didnt stock a lot there is more choice in town.
The facilities on site are all hemned in making it look like a fortress. you also need to carry your pass to use everything including to get into the site shop.
The security staff are unprofessional with a bad attitude. The ones we saw were not in uniform and we overheard one saying he had already been sacked twice!
Summary: a good deal on £9.50 holiday
