Advantages: Everything under one roof

Disadvantages: Car needed, can be a long walk back to your caravan

For our holiday this year we went with Haven Holidays to Cala Gran Holiday park in Fleetwood, nr. Blackpool. We booked a 3 star Gold caravan, which is basically a top of the range 2 bed 2 bath caravan for a week for just over £300 which I thought was a bargain.

As we'd booked a Gold caravan we had the added advantage of checking in at 1.30pm which was good as we then had the rest of the afternoon to explore the area and the site etc. We got our map and key at 1.30 and went to our caravan.

The caravan site is set out like a mini village, with all roads having a road name, so we had to find 64 Boundary Road. This caravan was situated in one corner of the caravan park, which was nice as we only one one other caravan on one side and a bigger parking space on the other.

On entering the caravan it was decorated to a high standard and was spotless.

On unpacking we then went to explore the rest of the park. By the reception area, was the "hub" of the park. As you walked in there was the amusements. To one side you had the main hall where all the entertainment in the evening took place. In the middle of the amusements was a restaurant and then the indoor swimming pool.

There were always friend staff on hand to help with any queries. Along the other side of reception was an onsite supermarket (prices a little above normal shop prices) and a mini launderette, which came in quite handy.

The main area of Fleetwood is a little fishing village which boasts a designer village and main shops. The trams run straight through the main shops into Blackpool and out in the other direction. From Fleetwood Docks you can get the ferry over to the Isle of Man.

My overall thoughts on Haven were that we'd go with them again, I couldn't fault them in any way. The holiday park was great for adults and kids alike and the caravan was luxury and couldn't fault that either, definately worth going to.

Summary: A great holiday was had by all.

I've never been on a Haven holiday before but have had a flick through their brochures in the past. Sam

I love staying in caravans, we had one for about 14 years and it is so much fun. x
