Advantages: great location

Disadvantages: a rip off

We couldn't holiday overseas this year so we went to West Wales( New Quay) where I spent a few years at Uni. I will list the good things first, that is the beach and the dolphins.
The staff were friendly and the pool was good

The caravan was filthy. We had to clean it. They have one tiny vacuum cleaner with a girl who pulls it round cleaning hundreds of caravans. My home vacuum is better. The gas heater was probabaly unsafe with large black marks around outlets, we slept with our windows open.

When you think I spent nearly £ 700 on this, we could have driven tp the South of France and had a week in hotel. The saddle on my bike was nicked and there was little interest in helping bar a ' that sort of thing doesn't happen here'. When I contacted the police they said the place did have quite a crime rate. No warning of that then in their cheapo brochure.

You get a free fun house pass when you cough up. Great, its a con. Nothing is free. The golf was £2-50 per head. If you have two kids plus the adults that is a tenner, certainly not free. The pool table was a quid a game. There was no chalk, their excuse being people run off with it. A box of chalk won't break the shareholders backs.

They advertise their prize nights for children and they are really rubbishy prizes and, incredibly, they are tight, giving just a few away ( 3 prizes for 50 children). In the amusement arcade kids can win prizes with these tickets. They count every single ticket with big queues of kids for puny prizes. Its a disgrace, they take advantage. The total cost of prizes must be a fraction of their budget.
The company seem to be pitching downmarket and I would think very carefully before holidaying there. There are good activites in the pool but they are very expensive. They have a high turnover of senior staff, a sure sign of a declining company. Go on a Eurocamp holiday. This rubbish is simply not acceptable. They treat their staff badly ( though they are friendly and professional despite this) and they treat their customers like idiots.

Summary: go on a eurocamp /key camp holiday. Hire a cottage

We used to be a big Haven fan until Rank was bought out by British Holidays and it started to cost more on site and standards slipped. Since then we have tried Park Resorts, which were excellent and we're off to Devon in a few weeks to a site run by Park Dean so keep your eyes open as I'll no doubt be reviewing them. Belinda

SOrry you had such a horrid holiday, at least they could have given you a clean caravan. I've been on a Eurocamp and it was great, I agree it is a much better alternative. Paul
