Advantages: Relaxing site
Disadvantages: None i've found
Resort:
Lakeland Flookbourough South Lakes.
Now i've been here may times in the last couple of years and this is one of Haven's more quieter relaxing sites i don't like the all action ones's to busy. It's a great site located in a nice rural area, you will need a car to get around be warned.A bit about the site.
Accomodation:
They have a variety of caravans ranging from a basic standard to luxury ones we mainly stay in the lower range ones and have always been pleased with how clean they are. With most of them you get all your linen except in the standard i think it costS £10 to hire.If you are going out of seasons which we do take extra duvets with you as it gets quite cold through the night as we found out last March Freezin....
Booking:
It's easy to do either call them up or pick up a brochure from the Travel Agents better still book online and you get better deals that's what we do.
Park Amenities:
Indoor Pool: There is plenty of activities to keep the kids happy and it's a nice pool not to big so you can keep an eye on them although there is Lifeguards on all the time.I've had an e.mail from them to say they have a new pool for 2009 so that will be interesting to see when we go in March.
Outdoor Pool: Not the biggest of pools and can get a bit crowded on a nice day but it's well laid out however there is seating for those of us who would rather not show are bodies (That's Me).Remember though due to are weather it is not always open. There is also a small play area by the outdoor pool.
Soft Play Area: This is not huge but it is only a small site, but the toddlers i've seen in there playing have fantastic fun and it gives you time to relax a bit.
Amusement Arcade: It's not huge compared to some sites i've been to but big enough. There is plenty of machines and games for the little one's to the mature age like me ha.It also has a small bowling alley. They are not soft though you have to walk through this to get to all the indoor amenities so be warned if you have kids make sure you get them to save their 2 pences before you go that's what i do.
Cafe/Bar: You can get meals here which are not to badly priced. We had a breakfast and i know for us it was'nt that expensive and it was enough to start the day with. You can also watch the telly here and have a drink be it a cup of tea or something stronger. The cafe overlooks the indoor pool so if you don't fancy a swim and the kids do you can sit and have a cuppa like me.All of the above amenities are located in the main building so if the weather is bad as it can be in the Lakes you can stay dry.
Bowling Green: This is located by the main building it's quite big and i don't think i've seen anyone playing on it when i've been.
Shop/Laundrette: The shop is an ample size and you can pick up most things it's always well stocked'but can be a bit pricey so you are better shopping off site if you can.I've never used th laundrette so can't really comment on it.
Outside Play Areas: There is plenty of open space for the kids to play football or any other ball games. There is more activities in the summer months so don't be surprised if everything is not on when you go out of season.
Golf Course: Located at the back of the site there is a 9 hole golf course which seems very popular,i don't play so can't really comment looks good though.
Surrounding Area: I love the Lakes so i'm probably biased but there is just so many place and things to do for all ages and to pursue most hobbies be it walking, boating, food, history or just relaxing. Most Towns are within a 15 mile journey.A must is Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding Factory which is a 10 minute walk from the site,You've got to go there if you love your puddings i do ha.
So all in all if you don't want a site that's to busy and you just want to kick back with the kids it's great.
Update: Just been on the site and they have some 4 night and 3 night weekend breaks from £79.50 now where's his credit card.Ha!
Summary: Great for all the family
