Advantages: NONE NONE NONE NONE

Disadvantages: EVERTHING EVERYTHING EVERYTHING

It really upsets me when I think of this holiday. I certainly will never ever go on another Haven Holiday and I certainly wouldn't advice anyone else to either. Remember the programme Holidays From Hell well they missed this one.

On arrival there were loads of cars and people every where, which you can expect from the first day due to booking in. Well we eventually go in and was told to park anywhere we could find a space, so there were people blocking each other in horns going off and well you could imagine it couldn't you . Some people have been on the road for hours on end with children in the car saying "Are we there yet" "Are we there yet". To top it all the area allowed to park was right by the childrens play area where they were playing ball and chase so you had everyone running around and Footballs hitting the car. All I wanted at this stage was a drink. But the bar was closed.

Anyhow eventually we were shown the caravan which I guess was clean enough but we gave it the once over anyway (as you do). In the caravans the heating is overhead and once it is on it is very hot, the heater in the childrens room was above the bunk which overhangs the two lower bunks so my Niece got a little burn once, so we had to find alternative sleeping for her in the caravan.

Don't wish to give you a run down but the childs pantomine was filthy, for children but definately aimed at adults even my 13 year old Niece went red so don't say there was nothing in it if she knew. We couldn't use to pool when it was raining as it was too full when we were eventually let in we got back out as the chlorine in the water was too strong.

The club house entertainment was the holiday makers and the whole place waas so dirty I wiped my feet on the way out. We went horse riding one day after picking up a leaflet in the reception it was like walking into farmer Giles pig sty.

The only good thing about t
he holiday was that we were together as a family and we spent some fun evenings playing board games in the caravan with the children. Could have done that at home with a fraction of the cost.

Never Ever go to Golden Sands as it is certainly not what it says it is I promise you that.

Have just come back from 5 days at this site (Golden Sands Mablethorpe) comencing 5.4.04. This site is not as bad as this review makes out.

We did however find that the swimming pool water was cold and it did get overcrowded. Changing areas were old & did get dirty due to the site being muddy and campers dragging in mud on shoes.

The evening entertainment for children was fantastic, our family really enjoyed ourselves. You had to be in the Falcon Bar by 6.00pm to get a table. Lots of games & party dances. More adult entertainment could be found in the Galleon.

We found the meals to be on the expensive side, although reasonable for children.

The site is next to the beach so if you get good weather you can spend all day on the beach.

Not recommended early or late season due to things not being set up or winding down.

We haven't been to Golden Sands, but this is not the experience we have had with Haven. (See my Opinion Filey, Wooler & California Cliffs)
