Advantages: Good fun for all the family
Disadvantages: It can be a bit pricey if you don't get a Sun coupon holiday
Our family have enjoyed a number of Haven holidays on the Vendee in France at Le Bois Masson in St Jean des Monts. I cannot speak highly enough of our experiences there.
The holidays were part of the regular Sun coupon promotions. We chose this particular campsite because it was in a region that we had been to before and we had enjoyed our time there. The campsite is on the outskirts of the town and is not very easy to find. We always use our sat nav, but even that is not foolproof.
When you arrive at the campsite you forget all about the difficulty getting there. The Haven staff are welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. For families the Haven reps lay on a comprehensive program of children's activities, and the younger ones really get into the swing of things at the Rory club.
The Haven holiday has all the facilities you could possibly need for your holiday. A small but expensive on site supermarket cum shop. A beautiful swimming pool with water chutes. Laundry facilities housed in the washing block. If you are on the Haven holiday with a tent, you can do your dishes in this block and enjoy the communal shower facilities.
We've never really fancied this option, so we have always had a mobile home. Depending on what you pay for, you can sleep up to eight people in a mobile home. Each comes equipped with toilet, shower room, kitchenette and between 1 to three separate bedrooms. In fact all the comforts of home.
In the evenings you can go to the bar where the Haven reps will lay on entertainment several times a week. The children generally find this great fun. In short a Haven holiday is the modern version of Hi de Hi. Perfect for anyone with a tight budget and small children and grandmothers.
Summary: Haven holidays it must be summer.
