Advantages: good food, lots to do inside if it rains, no queueing at airports!!!
Disadvantages: distance from accomodation to boardwalk and food canteen
We booked a 5 night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast Haven holiday to Hafan-y-Mor at the beginning of the year for the first week of May. If memory serves correctly we paid approx £167 as it was a last minute deal with a massive discount found on their website. It was for aComfort Plus appartment accomodation that said would sleep 6 (we are a family of 3 so though this would be ample room) with no kitchen facilities as breakfast and evening meals were catered for.
The weather back in the first week of May left a lot to be desired so we packed up the car (maybe a boat would have been more appropriate considering the torrential rain we drove through to get to North Wales) and set off hoping it would clear up or that Haven would offer some indoor entertainment if it didn't!
We arrived and were greeted by a very helpful security guard at the gate who told us where to go and what to do to check in. As we were very early we wandered (in the pouring rain) into the park to have a look around and found ourselves having a coffee in the "Boardwalk" the sort of hub of all the activities in Haven parks. Here was the bar (which I'm told wasn't too overpriced at around £2.50 a pint) , a little coffee shop and the vast amusement arcade, along with a little stage where the evening entertainment took place.
Checking in was a fairly painless experience probably because we managed to join the queue quite early on so there wasn't too much hanging around, and there were about 5 staff doing the checking in so it was very efficient and quick.
Once we had our key and our cards to qualify us for our meals, we walked (as it had stopped raining) over to the appartment blocks... These were set away from the main park and a bridge over the railway line had to be crossed to get to them. But this was fine as near the appartments was another entertainment venue and a large play park and boating lake so it didn't feel like we were out of the action.
I wasn't expecting too much from the accomodation and so was very pleasently surprised as there was a double room, a twin room a bathroom with a shower and a lovely sitting room with 2 sofa's - one of which was a pull out bed. Having been advised on the website there were no kitchen facilities it was lovely to have...... kitchen facilities! Fridge, cooker, kettle, and even a microwave! Bonus!
The food was very nice - a selection of cereals and toast and cooked breakfast items in the morning, and a different selection of 3 different courses for the evening meal... There were no complaints about the food from us! Unlimited tea, coffee and fruit juice was also available. The puddings were especially nice, as was the curry available one evening...
The pool was lovely and warm, although the changing rooms were freeeeeeezing! We didn't try the slides as our son is 2 and so too little to have a go and neither me nor my partner fancied it!
We didn't try the evening entertainment so can't comment on that, or the rope-works that are located at this park, but the kids club was fantastic... Our son refused to stay with his age group and we ending up taking him with the slightly older children and he ran about to his hearts content when they played parachute games and then a chasing game in the adventure park.
In all I found the park to be clean and tidy, all the staff were very pleasent and helpful and we shall be booking again next year - hopefully with better weather!
Summary: We will deinately go back again!
