Advantages: Lots to do for both adults and children very entertaining.
Disadvantages: Water Walking!!!
I made my first visit ever to a Haven Caravan Park at the end of September this year at the Lakeland Resort so I had mixed feelings about what this holiday experience was going to be like.I did some research before I went there for Friday to Monday and found out that in the Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Region that two familiar names cropped up in Primrose Valley and Reighton Sands as I remember going to both of those places as a child for family holidays in one of my parents friends caravan and I always remember having such a nice time and lots of happy memories so it pleased me to find out that they were still going strong and that they had become part of the Haven Caravan Park Family.
I had not had a holiday for a bit so it was a nice bit of time to get away and so in total there was me and then another 4 adults and there was 5 kids also so in total 10 people and this was booked through an offer that had been running in The Sun Newspaper. We had two caravans booked and the arrangement was that there would be 3 adults and 3 children in 1 caravan and then 2 adults and 2 children in the other caravan.
We set off reasonably early in the morning as when we got there we wanted to check the place out a bit and see what activities there was to do and though there was a bit of traffic we got there in about 2 hours which was not too bad.On arriving we reported to reception where we got told to go to the Etertainment Arcade and Leisure Complex but got told that it was a bit early to book in so we went to the bar and had a drink and relaxed for a bit until we were ready to book in.
It did not take long for that time to pass the kids were playing the play area and we amused ourselves and watched the TV.We then went to the entertainment room where we booked in and got our entertainment passes for the time we were staying.I must say the Arcade at the Entertainment Centre took me back to feeling like a child again and I showed my youthful exhuberence by helping the kids win tokens for prizes and they seemed to appreciate it.
We then went to our designated caravans and thanks to the lady who booked us in she put us right next to eachother which was a really nice thing to do for us.We got used to our temporary surroundings for the weekend and then went back up to the complex to get something to eat and get a better look around. The kids amused themselves and we went to the Entertainment Room and there was a show on and there was a Kids Club that the children could be part of and I think you were a Tiger or a Cheetah and both children and adults could win points for their respective teams so they could have a chance to win extra prizes by the end of the weekend.
The children came in and out and were enjoying themselves and kept asking for money to do different things and buy lots of toys and goodies and usually got what they wanted.Once the nights entertainment had finished we all casually wandered back to the caravans to sleep and be ready for the next days events.
We got to bed rather late on the Friday Night so we were not up until about 10:30 am the following day.Once we had watched some TV and got ourselves together we made our way to the complex and went to see what was happening and what events we could get involved in.The kids and the female adults went for a swim and me and the other male adult went to the bar as there was some football on and also scores coming through with it being a Saturday so we stayed there and played some pool also and had a general wander round the complex and then once the kids and adults had finished in the pool helped them try to gain some more tokens for prizes.
We then retreated back to the caravans for a bit to relax for a bit more and chill out in the caravan. It was soon evening and we went back to the complex and I took my swimming trunks and a towel and me and another adult and 3 kids went for a swim and it was really good I had not been swimming for a few years and it was quite energising.Once we had finished had a quick change into some dry clothes and then there was more entertainment in the Entertainment Room and we got talking to a nice Scottish Family from Glasgow and we ended up later on in the night going to the bar area and doing a quiz which we did not bad in and it was something else to do.
We went and got some food and then just before we left the complex the kids wanted to do some Water Walking well 2 of them did and I said I would like to try it too so we booked ourselves in for the Sunday Night slot.We made our way back to the caravans once more to chill out for a bit and relax and prepare ourselves for a relaxing Sunday or so I thought!!!
One of my adult friends said do you fancy a game of pitch and put golf and I said I am terrible at golf but 3 of us did it anyway and even though I didnt show I was any type of Tiger Woods I still had fun. After that we met up with the others and went for some lunch and a game of Crazy Golf which I was much more used to and I did better and it was a lot of fun. After we had done this we went back to the caravans to relax some more and get ourselves ready for the evening but first I had my first Water Walking Experience.
Firstly one of the kids had a change of heart which was fine so there was me and a boy and he went first into the ball on the Swimming Pool surface water and not long after that it was my turn although we had been waiting one hour or more so we got a refund. My turn came and its like your in a hamster ball but your a human and I kept falling over as my friends watched me and after about 10 minutes the air supply shortened and I started to panic so I frantically was scrambling the ball to the side of the Swimming Pool but as I was less able to breathe I started to panic more and much to my embarassment I had to ask the Male Lifeguard to help me out and I was very grateful and I am here to tell the tale thankfully!!!
So after my near death experience(slight exageration!) we all went to the Entertainment Complex to have our final bit of entertainent for our weekend and it was great fun as it had been for the whole weekend. After the entertainment had finished we slowly made our way back to the caravan and to get some more sleep before setting off back home the next morning.
We awoke the next morning rather early had some breakfast and then got packed up and ready to go and I think because we had such a good time it went so quickly but then we were on our way and then soon arrived home safe and sound.
I personally would rate Haven very highly as from my experience I had a great time and I would most certainly come back to the Lakeland Caravan Park or even try the Primrose Valley or Reighton Sands Parks and see how different they have become since I was a child or any other of the parks in that region as they are a bit closer to home.
I hope this review of my Haven experience is of some use to you and I hope you all have enjoyed reading it.
