Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Loads
As far as I am concerned I say, put it back in the wrapping! My girlfriend and I are well travelled and have been on many package holidays, some allocation on arival and have always had a fantastic time. However, as JMC offered the best late deal we decided to give them a go. £129 for 7 days on Majorca, allocation on arival. Sounds good. So we booked it. We then found that we had to pay an extra £60 each for resort transfers (£15 each), ticket collection on arival (£10) and low occupancy (the room apparantly slept 4 - 2 small beds and two dodgy sofas - great eh?). Still we thought that this wasnt a really bad deal so we booked it and flew off to Majorca from Manchester. The checkin was fine and neither way did we have a problem with delays or checking in. The flights were fine and the Airline staff OK but we did have to pay £2.50 for a pair of headphones to listen or watch the inflight entertainment!! When we got there we were allocated some apartments at a resort on the East coast called Sa Coma. After 2 hours drive we arrived at some rather rough looking apartments, these were basic but clean. On the journey one customer was sick, this customer was made to clean the sick up himself. The rep couldnt care less about the mess or the smell and just said "Oh it doesnt matter!". Another passanger kindly donated a newspaper to cover this up- well somebody had to as it was obvious that the other passangers were feeling queezy. Now we are a young couple 20 and 22 and any travel comapany with any sense would put us in a resort with some nightlife or even some life. What we found here was nothing like we could have expected. In total there were probably 6 bars that welcomed the English and only about 4 of these were worth visiting. There were no nightclubs or discos (unless you wanted to bother waking 2 miles to the next resort). Mo
st of these pubs only put music on when people stopped eating there! And then closed as early as midnight or 1-2am!! Not what you want on your holiday. During the day there was virtually nothing to do apart from lying on the beach or swimming in the pool. Thats about it! The Beach was nice however. Now the biggest problem with JMC we found was the complete disorganisation of the staff, especially the REPS. Our REP had just started in this resort and knew absoultly nothing about it. She had no idea of where was good to go etc. We only saw her once over the whole week. As the resort had virtually no life we decided to book a trip for most of the days and nights. Eventually we decided to do three. All nighttime trips as trips to waterparks etc were not offered by JMC. Now we found out that two of these trips were cancelled about an hour before each happened. The REP offered an alternative. Pay the full amount for the JMC trip and pay your own taxi fare to get there. At 10 quid each way we decided not to! The third trip called "Naughty North" sounded fun and we decided to not bother with the theme park trip the following day because we planned on having a good night out pub crawling it in the North of the island. After getting our lunch early and getting all 'tarted up' we were told 5mins before the trip that it had been cancelled. We were very dissapointed and extremely annoyed. We were informed that we would receive a full refund for the trip the following day. We still to this day have not got this money. As the bus to the theme park the following day left in the wee hours of the morning we couldnt purchase tickets to this event either and were left 'out on a limb'!! To make this all worse we had our room cleaned once (after been woken up by the maid at 8am and asked to get out of the room so she could clean it - it was fini
ally cleaned by 4pm!) and we never had our linen changed despite mosquito blood on both our sheets!. So there you go. There is no way we would ever travel with JMC again. Not unless they could prove to us that they can do far better than this. I will be sending a copy of this opinnion to JMC and will keep you all posted on their replies. Cheers All Alex

- 02/06/01 We expect a good holiday. Do you work for JMC? |

- 02/06/01 I'm Sorry, but what do you expect when you chance an Allocation on Arrival Holiday!! You get exactly what it says on the invoice a room in an undisclosed apartment-in an undisclosed resort.
How ridiculous of you to think that a tour operator actually sits down and allocates accommodation based on AGE.
I've just returned from a holiday to KOS, Greece with JMC and I had a wonderful time.
The fact is: people have to make up their own minds about JMC. EVERY TOUR OPERATOR HAS ITS GOOD AND BAD FLIGHTS,REPS,RESORTS AND ACCOMMODATION.
It's just unfortunate that you had a bad experience this time around. |

- 01/06/01 Re Janna: We still had to pay the under occupancy charge because JMC said we should be going in a group of 4 not 2.
We didnt really book a holiday to spend it behind the wheel of a car driving on the wrong side of the road. Would have been more expensive too. Couldnt afford it. Cheers for the comments though. |
