Advantages: Fast, efficient, friendly

Disadvantages: Few offices

Unlike the major high street travel agents, Kuoni are extremely flexible about their packages. I'm lucky enough to live near Manchester, where there is a Kuoni office, and after getting a brochure (OK - from my local Thomas Cook's!) I found that the holiday I really wanted was not there - I wanted to go to Egypt again, in September. I also wanted a two centre holiday - Luxor and Cairo, but the one that was advertised was too short - 7 days as opposed to 14. I visited their office, and within minutes of explaining my requirements, the helpful assistant had arranged a 14 day holiday - 10 days in Luxor at the Hilton, internal flight and 4 days in Cairo, at not much more than the cost of the single week!

This is a refreshing experience - to actually get what you want, and to find such friendly, efficient service, instead of the take-it-or-leave-it attitude of so many of the big operators.

Another thing that I appreciated was their honesty. I had gone to another agency, looked at the Kuoni brochure and requested a written quotation for the 7 day 2 centre holiday. In that quotation, there was an addition £15 per night single room supplement at the Luxor Hilton, which, even according to the brochure, does not have such a supplement! When questioned, the assistant said that things had changed! Naturally enough, the Kuoni people confirmed that it had not changed, and their brochure was correct - so the question arises, who gets the single room supplement that was to be charged? I have a strange feeling that it was to be added to the other agent's profits!

I love Egypt; the Hilton is nice too, although they do keep the air-conditioning up to to the max, such a shock when you then walk outside into the heat.
