Advantages: Very helpfull and full of knowledge., Very tidy and went out their way to do things for you., Very efficient service once dealt with.
Disadvantages: Often have to wait to see someone., Not exactly the cheapest holiday, dont buy commission here
I have only booked a holiday through Lunnpoly once and that was last year when I went to Greece for my 21st. There is no doubt that why people go back to the holiday shops due to their knowledge and professioanlism. Personally I did not like the travel shop due to the length of time that I had to wait to see a sales consultant (or whatever they are called) in the Arnold branch that is situated in Nottingham. This is because it is a small branch with only four Sales Consulatants. Although once you are being dealt with, they are very professional people as a lot of the time, they call you by your first name (if you have already booked with them) beofre you even sit down. It is like they know that you are comming into the agency. If you ask about anywhere, someone always know alot of detail about everywhere in which you are interested in, and if they did not, then another member of staff would say something. The attention that you get is brillient as they will sit down with you and talk to you about any problems that you may have. They also do look for the cheapest option that there is available at the time, but then they do give you an option on who there is to travel with. I decided to fly with Britania Airways which is part of Thomson Travel Group (which also owns Lunnpoly). (Please refer to article on Brittania Airways that I wrote on the 20/06/2001.) The holiday then was not the best of holidays. The cooker was not very good which took about 30 mins to warm up and about an hour to cool down, the floor got very slippy, and the rep was crap at his job, but was a good laugh when out around the pubs. The rep therefore was late in the mornings for excursions, or he forgot to tell us that it was canceled. I did not expect a lot from the actual apartments anyway due to it being Greece and I was pre warned that they live in very basic appartments, so I was not supprised in what I stayed in (now I am going off Lunnpoly subj
ect). The appartment was exactly like it was in the brouchure and was very to the point in how it was situated. The knowledge of Kardemina, Kos was very detail by the sales consultant as well. I would go again, but not through Lunnpoly. However, after waiting a long time to be dealt with, and then being seeing to by the sales person, I was looking around. The shop itself was very tidy, with only new brouchures on the shelves, and there was no litter on the floor. The other thing that I noticed was that when a customer had been finshed being dealt with, the member of staff always opened the door thanking them for comming and their custom. At all times, there was a very high professionalism about the company. If there was a queue developing in the shop, they always acknowledged you, so you knew that they had noticed people building up. This queue was not particulally the sales persons fault as the computer system that they use is very slow, but then when it came to photo-copying something, they had to go to the next shop along (a stationers) due to the shop not having a photocopier which I was supprised about. They however said that it was because they were a small agency and therefore was not necessary to need one. Overal, the quality of service was second to none, but I am a type of person that does not like to wait long. I only went to Lunnpoly as I was a shareholder of Thomson Travel Group. I personally tend to use Ilkeston Co-op Travel.

- 07/07/01 Sorry but have to disagree. All they do is push there own (i.e. Thomson) holidays. I'm far from a fan of Thomson, but that's another story. Good op nevertheless - Kay |
