Advantages: No travel agents fees, direct

Disadvantages: Had to pick up tickets at airport - would they be there?

When we wanted a quick get away we were recommended the above operator by a friend who said they had saved bucketloads of money by choosing their holiday through them. Ever the sceptic, I rang with a tight list of requirements expecting them to fail me but to my amazement they came up trumps. A week half board in a fairly warm country, somewhere fairly quiet with a decent beach but with a historical surrounding we were offered Puerto Pollensa in Majorca, flying two days after booking on the day we specifically asked for. We even flew from the airport we requested on a flight at a decent hour! The holiday was all we asked for and on returning home we checked the details and costs against another operator and found that we had saved a fair few pounds. Well worth trying.

Gazza's downside comment is fairly typical of travellers. Will my tickets be at the airport?

Well definately in the case of Portland Direct, the computer system they use means that your tickets are actually stored in the computer and then printed off for you when you arrive (or in adviance if they have time). There is no small boy in a cloth cap cycling a big bag of tickets over from a central office somewhere and he might drop yours.
