Advantages: Option of booking online, via telephone or in a branch - transparent with information

Disadvantages: They don't have a branch in Swindon!

STA Travel are a great network of agents offering advice and guidance for travellers all over the world!

It was my understand from a branch visit in Oxford that to work as an advisor, the requirement was to have travelled three continents. This in my opinion is a very reassuring factor as I would certainly prefer to hand my money over to a consultant who has travelled first hand and can provide me with personal experience and recommendation.

The range of products/services on offer is quite vast. Whether you want a land tour of China or a 1 year work visa for Australia, STA Travel can help you! I used them for my 12 month work visa for Australia and my flights and accommodation in Fiji and was certainly not disappointed. Being a backpacker for the first time, especially having decided I would travel alone, was a nerveracking thought and STA really offered me the reassurance and direction I needed. The visa process went smoothly and I also utilised a Sydney welcome pack whereby you get an airport pick up, orientation en route to the hostel and your first two nights accommodation.

For the Fiji portion of my trip, I booked my accommodation in advance which in hindsight was probably a mistake seeing as though your plans change dependent on the people you meet upon arrival!

I spent time on Beachcomber Island and Manta Ray on the Yasawas which I thoroughly enjoyed, however had I booked the accommodation locally at the airport, I would probably have enjoyed a little more freedom on deciding where to go. Of course, this is largely dependent on the time of year you travel however as I went during peak season, I'd say the only Island requiring advance booking was Beachcomber. I'd say a positive though (as a single traveller) was having the security of knowing you had a bed for the night.

I think the advice and information given to me by STA was second to none and will definitely use them gain for any future travel plans and holidays.

They seem to be very responsive via email and also proactive on the phone, and having been into the branch also, I can't say I could knock any aspect of the service they provide.

Their brochures are available in store or online to download and they are well laid out and easy to navigate.

Overall, a good company with great customer service!

Summary: Ideal for backpackers or anyone looking for something a little bit more alternative and sustainable.
