STA Travel, (Student Travel Association Travel), is a student tailored travel agency. Although it supplies flights at reduced prices they also offer a range of packages for student travellers, ideal for their year(s) out.
In my experience of using STA Travel, I have found they proved very low cost flight options, relative to full price tickets, with an at least standard service. Unlike many low-cost flights in which you are crammed into a tiny economy seat of an unfamiliar airline carrier, but onto an economy seat of a well-established carrier, such as British Airways. As such the prices do really reflect a reduction from the regular purchase price. - You get the same treatment as if you were paying the regular price!
It is true to say that some online agencies will offer a low price, however, what some do not realise is that with STA Travel, should you want to change the departure dates or return dates/times, it is quick and cheap to do. Most Airlines would charge anything up to (if not more) £200 to change the return flight to a later date. If you're on holiday already this can be a difficult and expensive thing to do, however, with STA Travel, you can rebook the return flight for free and with one phone call. STA Travel would require you to visit one of their TravelCentres, yet with so many around the world this quite easy.
In my experience, this option is a neccesity for Students not sure when they'll be moving on, but if you are simply looking for low cost flights from A to B without any regard to the conditions on board, you may prefer other agencies.

I've used STA-Travel for numerous flights within Europe and the only disapointment I have had is that the airlines won't allow you to collect any airmiles on your flights.
