I quite regularly use STA travel to book flights, they're not always the cheapest but being under 26 and quite flexible with my dates I find they usually offer a pretty good deal. I recently needed to book a one way flight out of China, this is usually pretty tricky, especially if you have no real proof that you're even entering the country in the ... Read the complete review

We decided to try out STA as we were planning to go to South East Asia onto Japan and finally Australia, and decided that a specialist travel agent would be the best route. However 7 months after starting the hellish process with STA, we have still yet to receive everything we paid for and when we do it has usually been wrong. It all started well as we sat down with an advisor and went through what we wanted to do and after about 1 -2 hours they have constructed an (expensive and conveluted) route for us. However due to the price we decided to look into flight options and managed to get them for almost half the price STA wanted. Furthermore the tours we booked came through wrong, late, missing information and once we had paid they showed very little interest in helping us. Avoid at all costs!!

As a constant traveller and one big on the backpacking market, I could hardly avoid crossing my paths with this giant company. They have branches all over the world, often situated in student and backpacker areas and they claim to offer the best deals for this type of traveller for flights, holidays, insurance and trips. However, they ... Read the complete review

STA Travel are a great network of agents offering advice and guidance for travellers all over the world! It was my understand from a branch visit in Oxford that to work as an advisor, the requirement was to have travelled three continents. This in my opinion is a very reassuring factor as I would certainly prefer to hand my money over ... Read the complete review

I have booked a few flights with STA Travel for one simple reason only: they are often the cheapest! This to me has been the only positive about dealing with them and I will explain why. The website When I first booked flights with them, I wanted a multi flight itinerary. I used a feature on their website that allows you to plan ... Read the complete review

STA Travel is a Travel company that is specifically geared towards student travel, they have branches all over and have 45 branches in the UK alone. A few months ago I went on holiday to Australia, I had a fantastic time, and although Australia and its inhabitants were mostly responsible for this, I think it's only fair to recognize the ... STA travel are a great company to travel with. I went on a 12 month working holiday to Australia and only used them. They were able to process my visa, my travel insurance, my flights and hostels all at once and gave me the best price because I was under 26. I recently booked my honeymoon flights with STA Travel, i wish i hadn't. During the process of updating itineries they changed flight times and didn't highlight the changes meaning an additonal 6 hours airport stop over - not what you need at the end of a honeymoon. Be warned STA Travel take no responsibility for your flight itineray even when they change it without your request. I would also warn you, as soon as they have your money their approach changes as you will read in many other reviews - be careful the after purchase service is none existant - don't expect any consideration towards your issues.
Lack of attention, no apologies, no customer service - be warned

When deciding I wanted to go on a trip around the world I emailed several companies for flight quotes, based on our ideas at the time. We then went into STA Travel (Leeds, city centre) for a quick quote, hoping they'd give us more information. This was a quick quote and the assistant just said what we could have found out online. I was hoping for ... Read the complete review

The good: Sometimes you can get a good price if you're a student, but it certainly isn't worth the downside. The bad: First of all, they failed to mail me my ticket, so at the last minute they had to issue me an electronic ticket. When I got to the airport, they didn't have my ticket in the system and said I would need to ... Read the complete review

I've used STA Travel probably around three or four times over the course of the last six years. I first encountered them in 2002 when I was taking an extended trip to New Zealand as a student. STA is a good first reference for flight quotes, etc, and I often drop in there to get an indication about flight costs and availablilty, etc when planning a trip. I booked a return flight from London to Sydney with STA in April 2006. I walked in at 12.30pm and was out within half an hour having been ripped off by about 20% compared to prices that I saw on the same day on the internet. I'm not sure how great STA really is. They provide ready packages that are bargain for students as it specifically targets students (round the world deals or Europe trips or day tours).
