Teletext is still a popular choice for finding information such as news stories and on ITV and Channel Four, viewing advertisements, mainly related to holidays.

Most people would agree that it is much more convenient to switch on the television at 7am in the morning and enter a three digit number, than it is to turn on a computer and connect to the Internet, which undoubtebly takes longer when time in the mornings is so improtant!

If I do use a text service my preferred choice is the BBC Ceefax service because I have found that features tend to be more in depth and the news coverage is updated more regularly and off course the sometimes annoying advertisements are not present.

However, teletext has advantages because the regional coverage tends to be more detailed that the similar service on BBC. And of course when looking for flights or holidays ITV is very useful because hundreds of pages of adverts from various companies are available.

Because of the Internet and the extended graphics that this offers, as well as video and multimedia content, I believe that teletext faces and uncertain future on its current platform. Although, this month, both ITV and Sky are lauching digitally enhanced text service which will offer vastly improved graphics and other multimedia content not possible with the analogue service.
