We owed with Sunterra/GVC/LSI for about 12 years before selling a couple of years ago, on the whole we were happy with our purchase and got to a good many places in the world we could otherwise not have visited.
However I would say when you come to sell you may not realise anything like the value feel they may be worth. But if you feel you have used them to their full potential then you may feel you have had your monies worth as we did, but the 2k we got was not what we expected to have at the end.
Finally the management fees were increasing year on year at an alarming rate and some resorts looked a bit 'frayed around the edges.

We just received our "free" holiday vouchers after a 2.5hr presentation. There are 3 options as follows (1) free accommodation plus 2 free flights & free hire car (2) free accom, buy one flight get one free, (3) free accom, book own flights. You need to state 3 different travel dates, 3 different airports (manchester, gatwick, ... Read the complete review

All I can say is BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! We paid $11,000.00 for 3,500 points. Well, 3,500 points is barely enough to get a 2-bedroom resort. The one we did get to stay at was all worn down and dirty. Other times when we wanted to plan a vacation, there was no availability. There are sooooooooo many rules - the one I particularly like is the ... Read the complete review

Both myself and partner recently attended an evening at LCI Travel in Wakefield. We like everybody else on here received a call a few weeks prior with the promise of a week’s European holiday for about £30 per person. Got to admit I was sceptical, but not as much as my partner who took quite a while to persuade to go along. Well we attended, and ... Read the complete review

We have today resisted the invitation of LCI Travel in Wakefield to invest in Sunterra Holiday Club membership. We are shocked to read what a close call we had, as the presentation was so plausible. We now read just how much of it was untrue.l One alarm bell was the "decide now" condition - the reason being that they do not want you to ... Read the complete review

i dont understand the process of what happens before you arrange your holiday but i know you pay a fee of about £40. the flights are bought 'in bulk' like a travel agent. if they buy a flight for say £100 they add x amount for profit so now we are up to £150. the price you pay for your 'buy one get one free flight' is £260. they buy 2 flights for ... "I have no experience of poor salesmanship of any kind, or even anything which could be remotely defined as high pressure." Is complete rubbish, every time we have been on holiday using our Sunterra/GVC points we have been hounded by sales people. The reps lie continually, even now as Sunterra Europe is up for sale, they tell us ... Read the complete review

i am very upset by the fact i invested 14k into this company and almost signed up for another 10k but came to my sences just in time. the principal is excelent but the availability and the quality of the resorts is very poor i think it is only suitable for the retired with nothing stopping them traveling for months on ... I bought a GVC Timeshare week at Garden Lago for £9500 some 9 years ago. I was talked into changing it for the points system for another £3000 5 years ago. Since being in the points system my experience has been one of non availability. There is never anything available when I want it. This year I ended up saving the points for next year and ... GVC or Sunterra both the same unfortunately! Be warned, when you are sold the product through a front person for Sunterra i.e. LCI Travel, ensure that you get it all down in writing and very clear as the goal posts continually move. I bought in to the Voyager package in January this year which gives us 5 weeks holidays with ... Read the complete review

I have been a GVC/Sunterra member for about 10 years, having purchased my points from another member at a very good rate. I have stayed at many Sunterra resorts over the years, all of which have been 3-4* rather than the 5* promised. It has become increasing more difficult to get accommodation during school holidays resulting in me ... Read the complete review

Sunterra is a flexible timeshare scheme. Instead of buying a week at a specific resort in the traditional way, members buy a number of points for a one off fee, and can "spend" that number each year. Ongoing annual costs take the form of maintenance fees. Accommodation is "priced" per week in these points, with the ... Read the complete review

My husband and I attended a Sunterra presentation approx one year ago on the promise that we would get a free colour tv, accommodation in europe for two people, two flights and a car for our use for the week.We listened to the presentation and the heavy sale at the end of the day and did sign up for the three year trial period. My husband and I are victims of the now well known Sunterra/GVC scam. We like everyone else, received a telephone call saying we had won a free holiday and had to attend a short presentation to claim it. We attended a slick presentation two and half hours long full on hard sell. We asked all the right questions and we were assured that if we ... Read the complete review

I to feel as though I have been ripped of, but when I have managed to get what I want I have been impressed. It is expensive unless you are going to use it, it is not suitable for every one and you have to have a lot of flexibility. *SEE MY WEB SITE AT http://www.sunterra.info We have been ripped off by Sunterra (Grand Vacation Club, or GVC as they were), and intend to advertise that fact. This is a very interesting point of view which I have mixed feelings towards. I am a member of the GVC/sunterra holiday club for 3 years and I was lied to as well but it is up to the individuals to check it out first. Some of the things that the reps say to make people buy these points are quite rightly bull shit and wrong. However the reason that ... Read the complete review

In fairness to GVC I enjoyed myself on their FREE holiday. My family had to go to Lancaster to recieve it. The presentation was 3hrs long but being only 15 at the time it was something I left my parents to. They tried every tip in the book. They compared the price of package tour operated holidays to their points system and showed off their ... Read the complete review
