Advantages: Online Deals
Disadvantages: Single Flight Cost
Thomas Cook is this countries second largest travel agency, and being a travel writer, I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on this company. As of yet, I have had no problem with them, either in my own personal experience, or that of my professional experience. I do travel a lot, however, I wouldn't use Thomas Cook for that, as they are what I call a Package Agent, in that they mainly specialise in selling holidays, whereas the likes of Easyjet specialise in flights alone. Not to say that they don't offer flights on their own, but they can be a bit expensive.
Not only is Thomas Cook one of the largest travel agents in the UK, it is also the oldest, dating back more than 165 years, over which, they have become a national brand and a household name. One of the good things about this agency, and the main reason why their holidays can be so cheap, is being the company also owns its own airline, you when you book up with Thomas Cook, you will fly with Thomas Cook and not a secondary airline. To me, this guarantees 100% customer safisication. I have used this company on a personal basis many times, and the one thing that I do love about Thomas Cook, is the fact that they find a family holiday to cater for all of your needs. Everything from the dates of your holiday, to the flights times, and the standards of your hotel, they really do go out of their way to help, which is something you do expect, but don't always receive from other travel agents.
Not only do they sell holidays and flights, but they have foreign exchange services, with no commission, and they have recently been found to offer the best exchange rate of any other business at the moment. They also have travel insurance, which can be tied into your holiday package for very little extra cost. Of course, that is only the standard insurance, and for special insurance, it will obviously cost a bit more, but you are definitely getting your money's worth.
When you want to book a holiday with Thomas Cook, you can do it by three ways. Firstly, you can go into a branch, where you will be greeted with excellent customer service from their sales consultants, and you can sit down with them and discuss your holiday in detail. However, a more convient way of booking a holiday would be to go to their website. This is usually the option I go for, as you will find that they offer online discounts, which you wont find instore. It has a simple layout, and you can before a simple search or a more advanced search. You can feel safe when booking online with Thomas Cook, as they are part of a number of organisations to prevent loss of money. The further option would be to book over the phone. This wouldn't be for me, but it may for you.
In conclusion, Thomas Cook is one of the best, if not the best travel agent around these days, and I love travelling with them. Some of my best holiday experiences have been when I have travelled with Thomas Cook, and that is both in the air, and in resort. If ou are looking to book a late deal for the summer, or a holiday for next year, I would definitely recommend using Thomas Cook, they really are the best around.
Summary: Service is brilliant

- 18/06/09 Sorry if my rating seems harsh, but I could have found most of this information from a website. What I really wanted to read about was your specific personal experience. |
