I have recently booked a holiday with the tv travel shop, for myself and family.
I thought i was being offered a fantastic service, the holiday of our dreams on the dates i wanted to go.
I sent a cheque as deposit and waited for confirmation, I booked my holidays at work and informed people of my forthcoming holiday.
About a week later i recieved confirmation from the tv travel shop, but to my horror the dates were wrong, i promptly phoned them to let them know about this mix up of dates.
They told me i had booked for those dates they had sent me and i could change them subject to a fee of 35.00, if the dates were available.
I was totally disgusted with this as it was their fault not mine.
I had written all the details including the dates down when i booked the holiday, and i told them i was'nt happy about having to pay another 35.00.
I was then put through to the supervisor who not only informed me i had to pay this money, but the balance of my holiday had to be paid 6 weeks prior to the time i had originally been told by the sales advisor.
I was not very happy, she put me on hold for about 20 mins, then told me she would call me back, the following day i was called by the supervisor who apologised to me, and told me the salesman who had sold me the holiday had given me incorrect information just so as he could gain a sale and boost his commission.
Anyway to cut a long story short, we are going on our original dates and we havent had to pay the 35.00 pounds, so when booking your holiday through the tv travel shop be extra careful if it sounds too good to be true, check again with a different sales advisor, otherwise you could end up losing not only the holiday but your deposit aswell.
