Advantages: cheap, easy and quick to deal with, offer deals, give helpful advice, sort everything out for you
Disadvantages: sometimes took a while to get back to me
If you are planning a round the world trip then Travel Nation is definitely a company you should take a look at for buying your tickets from. I looked at almost every round the world travel company that I could find on Google and received quotes from all of them and Travel Nation was by far the cheapest and also the best for service. Someone dealt with my enquiries and planned all my flights for me and then passed me onto someone else to deal with the actual booking. They sometimes took a while to get back to me but I'd simply send them the email again and they'd reply straight away and always answered any questions I had and helped me out a lot.
All of the staff at Travel Nation have previously travelled around the world a lot so they know quite a bit and are able to give you any information and advice you might ask for. I asked for advice on how was the best way to travel through certain countries, i.e. via a flight or overland and they advised me where was best to travel overland which saved me money on my flights. They dealt with visas for me without me having to do anything. Whilst we were away, if we had any problems or queries (not just to do with our flights but about accommodation and travel, etc.) they would help us out as best they could for no extra charge. They also offer deals on extra bits you book with them such as activities and travel in other countries such as tickets for buses through Australia. Flights can also be changed with them easily by simply sending them an email or giving them a quick call and for a small extra charge (only in some countries) they can change the flight for you.
It was easy and quick to get everything booked with them. Overall, for 12 flights the round the world ticket cost us £1,707 each!! Our route was London - Hong Kong - Singapore - overland to Chiang Mai - Singapore - Sydney - overland to Cairns - Alice Springs - Sydney - Auckland - Fiji - Auckland - Cook Islands - LA - London. When you think that a single return flight to somewhere like Thailand costs just slightly less than that this is an amazing price! And all of the flights were with very good airlines including Virgin Atlantic, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines and Quantas. Food is also included in every single flight.
For any other trips that I am planning I will definitely use Travel Nation again. In fact I've already emailed them for another couple of quotes already!
Summary: a great travel company with great rates and advice

- 08/12/08 Yep I looked up a flight to Bangkok a couple of weeks ago and it was about £1,200/1,300 for a return flight which isn't much less! |

- 08/12/08 Welcome to dooyoo. That sounds very reasonable for the trip you did, although I would query whether a return flight to Thailand would be "slightly less" that £1,700! |

- 08/12/08 Nice review and welcome to Dooyoo!! I asume that this company is bonded to ABTA so you are covered if they fell into difficulties? |
