Advantages: Excellent value

Disadvantages: Applies to autumn only

"Autumn Gold" is a brochure published by the Scottish Tourist Board. It offers expensive, superior accommodation at affordable prices from September to November.

Last year we stayed at the Ardanaiseig Hotel by Loch Awe. This small country hotel sits alone and is set in 100 acres of exotic woodland garden overlooking Loch Awe. "Autumn Gold" is currently offering three nights for the price of two at £99, dinner, bed and breakfast. Normal prices average at £150 per room and breakfast and the excellent table d'hote menu costs £80 per head.

The restaurant served the best food we had ever had, specialising in a lot of local produce including fish and shellfish having come straight from the north sea. The presentation and quality were excellent.

The bedrooms had charm and individuality and during our stay included a bottle of champagne, chocolates and roses.

This is the second time that we have used Autumn Gold. It allows people to stay in luxury accommodation at affordable prices. Why not treat yourself to a break during the dull autumn months?.

Summary: Breaks in Scotland

I'm afraid you need to tell us quite a bit more - particularly about travelbag rather than the hotel. Ben

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in Scotland, I go fishing in loch Awe (I live about an hours drive away from it), and the scenery is "Awe" inspiring :)
