Advantages: price, holiday experience

Disadvantages: customer service, limited choice

I had a bit of a hit & miss experience with virgin holidays when I went to egypt in 2008. The booking went OK - the call centre staff could have been a bit more helpful especially when I requested a particularly hotel but unfortunately virgin only deal with a limited number of hotels.

positive - The main reason for booking with virgin was the price - it was much cheaper and even a specialist rival could not match it. Also they were flying with bmi rather than egypt air from a better airport for me.

The holiday went smoothly and the reps were prompt and transfer transportation modern.

negative - I found out I was entitled to a discount and wrote to virgin but as it was too close to me leaving for the holiday I could not cancel as I was not happy with their customer service in regards to giving me the discount I was entitled to. One letter never even got replied to which I found very disheartening. The holiday was great but the customer service needs improvement.

Summary: good on price, need better customer service
