Argos Set of 3 Garment Carriers
Advantages: Cheap, do zip up, do provide protection.
Disadvantages: Cheaply made, poor zips, poor quality, very thin, no labelling system.
Now that I have a 'proper' job I have to travel from time to time and sometimes I will also have plans that involve me travelling to work from somewhere other than home. It is for these reasons that I purchased these garment carriers from Argos. 3 carriers were only £12.99 which seemed like a bargain for me and the ideal way to keep my suit protected when I am travelling from place to place and don't want them to become creased, dirty or damaged on route.
These covers, in theory, should look as good as they do in the picture, however as most of us know this is not always the case with online things. This is definitely a case of something that looks more 'dressed up' in the photographs which is a shame first off. These garment carriers are two different sizes with two being designed for suits and one for a dress. Each carrier is made from PVC which is black and they all have a zip that runs the full length of them.
I have not actually used the dress carrier more than once when attending a party but the suit carriers I have used about 9 or 10 times so far. We have had a lot of family functions and appointments recently including funerals, bank meetings and therefore I have needed to look my best and very presentable.
These carriers are distinctly average. They DO cover up my suits, and on one occasion a dress, but they don't really do much. The zips open and close, just about, and the PVC does cover the suits. The PVC is very thin though and ridiculously delicate. I caught this with the edge of a shoe I was holding and it just tore a hole in it which was very disappointing indeed. The zips should be opened slowly so as not to damage them and then catch the teeth on my suits, this is never good as I am often in a hurry and twice now I have had to realigned the zipper on one of the suit carriers, that is with me using the two no more than 9 or 10 times.
As I did not have bags of money when purchasing these carriers they did serve for the one occasion that I had in mind when I purchased them but they have not lasted very well over the last month or two which is a real disappointment. I am upgrading to some better ones now as my suits are quite expensive and I would be gutted if I tore or damaged them just because I scrimped on a garment carrier. They do protect suits and dresses, fairly well, but the faffing around with the zip and the lack of labelling just annoys me and makes me want to stop using them as soon as possible.
Summary: A set of garment carriers that aren't really fit for purpose.
