Advantages: A great pattern, a good weekend size and a great wipeable fabric

Disadvantages: Really expensive, perhaps put it on your Christmas list!

I received this fab overnight bag as a Christmas present, which I was really pleased about. I think my family have finally cottoned on to the fact that I do a lot of travelling around and on my last visit home saw that my bag lost it's handles....it really was looking like a state. Luckily for me they went and got me this Cath Kidston overnight bag, which is just perfect for slinging in the back of my car or carrying onto the train. The bag is standard hand luggage size, so you can take it onto an airplane (even a budget airline).

It's made from a wipeable, oilskin type material, which means that not only can you wipe off any marks and spills, but also it is reasonably waterproof. The inside has a cotton lining and the zip seems to be of good quality (I've only used it a couple of times so far), it doesn't catch on anything when opening and closing the bag. The straps are made from a webbing and seem to be quite sturdy, they are securely fastened and don't look like they are pulling on the fabric of the bag when it is full and you're lugging it around.

In terms of size, I can fit a weekends worth of clothes, a couple of pairs of heels and my toiletries in, which when you think about it is all you really need from a weekend bag. What I like most about this bag is the fantastic pattern on it. Typical of all Cath Kidston's products it has a quirky pattern that could be seen as old fashioned, but I think it is really quite cool. The background is black (good for hiding any marks you can't wipe off), and all over are different types of birds all sat on branches, interspersed with flowers. It isn't as bright as some of Cath Kidston's designs, but then I think such a huge bag couldn't cope with a really bright pattern.

All in all I think this is a fabulous bag and I really am pleased it was a present, because I have just seen how expensive it was. Most online retailers price this bag between £60-£70, not a cheap investment. I remain to be convinced about how sturdy the bag is in the long term, because I have only been using it for 3 weeks, but I hope it will last for a long time because I love it!

Summary: A lovely weekend bag, that is expensive, but is gorgeous nontheless!
