This weekend bag is made Disaster Designs, who make gorgeous quirky accessories. They sell handbags, wash bags, purses and they are all gorgeous. They actually do a Moomin range which is fabulous! This particular weekend bag is part of the Paper Planes range.
I'd been lusting after this bag for a while (along with the toiletry bag!) but at £50 I needed an excuse to buy it so when I needed an overnight bag to take to the hospital I decided that this bag would be perfect. I bought mine online from Campus Gifts but it's worth having a shop about. Amazon sell it but I still think Campus Gifts are cheapest at the moment as they have 10% off.
As I mentioned earlier, I love everything in the Paper Planes range. The range has a lovely vintage feel to it and has lovely quirky detailing. The whole theme of the bag revolves around travel - it has a map effect on the main body of the bag, which is much more attractive and subtle than you'd think and it contrasts nicely with dark brown frame. Due to the different colours on this part of the bag, I've found that despite using it quite frequently it doesn't show up marks or wear and tear.
My favourite part of the bag is a cute little envelope on the front of the bag saying "Something For the Weekend). It's handy for popping small items in and fastens with a magnetic clip. The added bag charms, including a gorgeous silver plane, also make a nice touch. I'm also happy with the shape of the bag as the brown frame means that it maintains it's shape regardless of what you have inside the bag. I've found that other overnight bags lose their shape unless they have a lot of items in.
The bag has a zipped inside pocket which I use to pop my card holder and coin purse in because otherwise they get lost in the bottom of the bag and you become one of those annoying people at the checkout rummaging around for your purse in the bottom of your bag. It also has a handy phone pocket which helps keeps thing organised.
The bag has a top handle on it so you can carry it by hand. This is my only negative! Top handles are my pet hate and I find it really annoying that I can't put it over my shoulder. It's particularly annoying if you have other things to carry because you soon run out of hands!
The bag is a decent size, but I would definitely say it's more of an overnight bag than a weekend bag. It fit everything I needed for my hospital visit, including a change of clothes, but it was a tight fit. I needed a separate bag to fit my baby items in but I was intending on taking two bags anyway. The fact the bag isn't huge is actually a positive for me because it means I can use it more frequently than I would if it was only suitable for a weekend away. It's big enough to cart around all my junk, my sons' toys and other bits and pieces without being too bulky and heavy.
I love this bag and the fact it's eye catching and so unlike every other bag out there. I get a bit bored of the same old plain fabric bags and I've had a lot of comments since I've started using this bag. It's brilliant quality and really well made and I've now got the whole range on my wish list! Definitely worth the money.
