This was the first guide book I ever used and I have since bought and used the Spiral Guide for Paris. Spiral Guides are fantastic! They are written by the AA and usually focus on cities although you can get some for whole countries. The books are paperback and, surprisingly enough, spiral bound. The typical format is a map on the inside front cover which is split into different coloured areas, the Barcelona guide has five different areas.
