I've used editions of this book while travelling to almost every Italian region over the last five years. Rough Guides are always my book of choice for country guides (can't stand the overfamiliarity of most Lonely Planets!) and this one has lived up to expectations on every trip. My main use of the guide is to choose between destinations on a trip. The regional maps are clear and detailed enough to see immediately what's where, and the text helps you check what's on offer in a city and its surroundings easily.
