Advantages: Comprehensive cover, Choice of plans to suit your needs, Quick & easy
Disadvantages: None
I found AnnualTravel.com on MoneySupermarket.com, and it came up high on the list so I decided to give them a try. They offer Annual Multi-Trip travel insurance plans for UK residents, European Union Residents and those in the USA, Canada & Carribean. I chose the UK residents option and there was a selection of 3 plans. I chose Plan A, the plan with the lowest premiums, but the othre plans are suitable for people with pre-existing medical conditions, and those requiring longer single trip limits. The plan I chose, Plan A, was £56 for a single person, £79 for a couple or £96 for a family (there's a discount for booking on-line, which I thought was very generous), which covers an unlimited number of trips, with a single trip limit of 31 days, aswell as 17 days wintersports cover, although I personally am unlikely to be needing that! The cover is very comprehensive, £10 million medical cover, £2 million for sending you home in an emergency, £3,000 cancellation and £2,000 baggage cover. I only hope I won't be needing all that medical cover, but it's better to be safe than sorry. I chose to buy on-line for the discount, but you can also buy by phone, post or fax. The online form was straightforward and only took a few minutes. Once I put my credit card details in, the documents appeared on screen to print out straightaway, so make sure you've got enough paper and ink ready! I haven't needed to make any claims yet, but AnnualTravel.com are not an insurance company but a broker. All-in-all, I was very impressed with AnnualTravel.com, it was quick and easy to use, with top cover. I would highly recommend using them!

- 03/04/03 Not too bad a deal - but buy with care for your circumstances. The devil is as ever in the detail:-
- The medical excess of £75 is quite high - especially given the pre-existing medical is pretty restrictive for many.
- "Any claim under section G (Personal belongings, baggage and money) if you already have a more specific insurance covering this." - meaning your household cover will probably be hit and that no cliams bonus if you have one.
- long long list of exclusions to review which do cut down somehwat on most of the covers. It is not what maximum amount they might pay, but what they will pay for that matters. |

- 02/04/03 sounds like good cover for a good price.
one of the things you should never leave home without as a british woman found to her cost last winter. had an accident, had to be rescued from a mountain by helicopter and had to be flown home, no insurance, didnt think she needed it!!! she now has a bill for over £30,000 |
