We go to Le Mans every year for the famous 24 hour motor race, and a few years ago, we had the misfortune to have stolen/lose the wallet that contained all our money (about £200 left by that stage). Now I know carrying cash sounds like a bad idea, but bear in mind it is not possible to cash travellers cheques at the circuit, and the bank are in the town a few miles away.

A phone call to the UK with a borrowed French phone card, and the CIS (Co-operative Insurance) or their agents, called us back, and realising the urgency of our problem had a taxi at the main gate of the track with £200 is French Francs for us. I cannot say what a relief this was. Also on the way back we got caught delayed at the airport in Paris, and they paid out for that too!

All the matters were dealt with in complete professionalism, and I cannot fault their service, and use them everytime we go away.
