I needed travel insurance for a seven month stay in Australia. Columbus Direct was the cheapest company I found for the level of cover I wanted. I got a package one up from the basic level, which gives a bigger payout if neccessary for things like medical cover (this is useful as fees can be expensive in Oz).I also added an adventure holiday package which covered me for almost everything you are likely to want to do, such as scuba, skydiving, bungee etc.
At the end of my stay my wallet was stolen. I half-expected Columbus to try to wriggle out of a pay-out as I had no definite proof that the wallet had been stolen, or that it had contained a considerable amount of money. I was wrong. They were as efficient as when they had first provided the cover. I was very pleased with the service, and recommend it to anyone.
