Advantages: Quick, cheap and easy to arrange

Disadvantages: None

Having booked my first independant holiday (ie myself as opposed to via a travel agent), I felt I should sort out travel insurance so I checked Directline's website and got a quote for two 25 year olds for 5 days in Amsterdam at £55.

So I went to Ask Jeeves (www.Ask.co.uk) and asked for "Cheap travel insurance" which then took my details and compared several different companies.

The cheapest quote was from Direct Travel Insurance. The quote for both my friend and I was a mere £13.

The documentation arrived a couple of days later and the Insurance underwriters are CGU (big insurance company) so the cover is good. Thankfully I didn't need to use the cover, so I only wasted £13 instead of Directline's £55.

So I suggest either you Ask Jeeves for a quote comparrison or just go straight to www.direct-travel.co.uk for a quote and see if anyone can beat it.

If you go on holiday 3 times or more per year, try annual travel insurance as it works out very cheap. Do Direct Travel offer annual cover?
