I have been fortunate to be able to book a few holidays and breaks on line over the last two years in order to take advantage of cheap flights. The process is so easy. Finding accommodation is simple though my husband and I decided to know exactly what we were looking for in order to refine our search, i.e. country, hotel, apartment or villa.

We recently took advantage of very cheap flights to Paris with Buzz for a three-night break and followed their site through for a modestly priced hotel. Decision made the transaction was completed in minutes with confirmation straight away.

We needed Travel Insurance, so I set about searching out a good deal in keeping with our “bargain break” we had put together. My search brought me to Screentrade where I sussed out a few quotes. Direct Travel came up with by far the best deal and I settled for £13 premium for 4 days for us both. Confirmation was instant.

It turned out to be £13 well spent. We went through the unfortunate experience of being robbed on the Paris Metro. Our Passports and travel documents were stolen, a new digital camera and insurance details. We spent half the day between the police and consulate, gathering information and paperwork.

We missed our flight back and had to pay for another. Fortunately for us we had no money stolen and were able to finance emergency passports and our fare home. Our delay did not, thank goodness, involve an extra night’s stay.

I contacted Direct Travel the next day. They were very helpful and our claim was dealt with admirably. The settlement cheque fell a little short of what we expected but arrived within 2 weeks of our claim and to our satisfaction. I would not hesitate to insure our travel with them again and recommend them to anyone.
