HSBC Travel InsuranceNewest Review: ... is provided by Norwich Union. I don't recommend. They have a very dishonest trick to scape from their responsibilities. When you by online they would say it's OK and you have bought the insurance, but later they make excuse that your card was declined (even though you see it works online). The point is they don't let you know until your policy period ends. They would say they have contacted you but you were not available. (of course they new you were away) So when you come back from your trip they would ask for their money. If you claim they would say your policy was not valid because you have not paid; and they still can get your money.... more |

Very poor cover for losses due to not being able to complete trip due to illness. Once the £50 excess per person was taken out and after a mandatory medical certificate was obtained (which cost £25) we had a claim total of £2, which in fact was a loss of £23 due to the cost of the medical certificate!
The moral of the story is always check the excess before making claims and don't use HSBC!

I was a bit suspiscious of the cheapness of HSBC, but given the above review I thought I'd give it a try. Low and behold twice the price of other polices! £120 for world wide annual multi trip including winter sports. However, I can't comment on the quality of the policy as I slammed the phone down before purchasing. I would recommend some other company like Insure and Go instead although I can't find information about how reputable they are. Nationwide are also unexpectedly expensive. ... My word HSBC travel insurance is cheap! I thought that buying it from an insurance specialist would be cheaper, but boy was I wrong! I was in my local branch and I thought I'd test the theory, to see if it was as expensive as I thought. After asking the charming lady at reception, she directed me to a free-phone in the corner where I pressed "6 for insurance services" and spoke to an equally charming, if a little over enthusiastic, assistant on the other end. To cut to the important part, I got travel insurance for my girlfriend and I to goto France for 2 weeks for £35! And the cover is immense! It's actually more than £35 but you can ...
