I've been with Insureandgo for 18 months and done a lot of travelling but never needed to make a claim.
Monday morning (02/02/09) in London I was due to go on a coach tour in Europe only to realise that I couldn't make the journey across London to meet the coach to get to Dover, customer services for both the tour and insureandgo did not open until the same time that the coach was due to depart.
Finally I get through to the tour company to be advised that I need to get to Dover at some point during that day otherwise the trip would be considered cancelled and to contact my insurance company to look at cancellation cover for poor weather conditions.
Spoke to insureandgo who advised that they would 'potentially' assist in getting me to any other point in tour but would not cover as 'snow' is not considered an issue and others were able to make the tour.
Do these people live in boxes without windows, have no access to newspapers, radios or weather information. Headlines read that London is at a standstill and they think I'm being unreasonable asking to have my insurance cover my missed tour - apparantly its was only me that was affected by the snow couldn't get to the start of the tour. They also couldn't understand why I couldn't get a flight to the tour on either the Monday or subsequent days. Hello! all 5 airports in London were either closed, had major delays etc so try getting a flight that day or the next few days either. I couldn't even get to the airport even if I wanted to.
To cut a long story short, I have no holiday, have lost over £500, magically had my own private snowstorm, paid for insurance that doesn't actually insure, couldn't postpone the tour to a different date and I'm meant to be happy...........
Summary: Insurance does not cover missed holidays due to snow storms that brings London to a standstill
