Advantages: Right moment, Apparently free?

Disadvantages: High Real Price, Lack of advice, No Choice

I guess it is easy enough to buy at a travel agent if you are there...

Things that always put me off are:-

Anyone who says it's free is simultaneously selling me something else - I am not sure that my best attention would be on what is covered or not?

Is that cover really suitable for me ? I have never met a travel agent who adequately explained the insurance they so happily sold me. I guess I'd pay for good, expert advice - but not all agents even seem to know much about the destinations they recommend to me.

I get the impression that travel agents earn serious commission money by selling these little extras - so is it really good value for money?

I am not having a go at individual travel agents here - there are good and not so good in all professions. But, is the travel insurance they push right for yourcirumstances - they often don't seem to check that or offer any choice of insurer.
