Advantages: save money

Disadvantages: none

I travel abroad three ot four times a year sometimes for up to a month at a time.
I would also book my travel insurance at the same time with the travel agent.
I suupose you might call me stupid but I never used to ask the cost of the insurance. I would hand over my credit card and the whole ammount would be debited from my account.
That is before I came to my senses and asked one day two years ago while booking my two weeks in Benidorm.
I was quoted £38 for the two weeks.
I then asked if I could get a quote from somewhere else, I was told that I could't book a holiday with them without travel insurance and that they would not conferm my booking without travel insurance.
I ask if it was obligatory for me to take their insurance, they said no but I could tell that they were not happy by the look on their faces.
(I have found out since that they get a commission for selling there own insurance), hence the long face.

I had heard about the post office travel insurance so thought i'd pop along and find out the charges.

They did several diffent ones depending on where you were traveling to and for how long.

The Europe 7/9 days was £15....9/14 was £20.
The Europe annual was £60.......This was the price for adults, the childrens were a redused price.

I didn't go into the world wide prices as I usually only travel within Europe. But I'm sure they will compere favourably with the tour operaters charges.

I opted for the annual insurance and now have to suffer the long faces every time I book a holiday at the travel agents when I show them my yearly travel insurance.

But I now just walk away with a smile on my face thinking about that extra spending money in my pocket that I have saved on travel insurance.
Now I tell everyone to go to the post office travel window
