Not so comparative as they used to be (Screentrade Travel Insurance)

Advantages: Pre-existing conditions terms not too restrictive, Good range of covers, Policy is clearly presented

Disadvantages: Only one insurer presented, 2 kids only in family rates, Website quote engine did not work for me!

Screentrade were one of the very early adopter of e-commerce in the UK. Unlike many they grasped the concept of the web well and offered a comparative quote process. This seems to have ended, for travel at least, with only one offer available.

Remember in any case on comparative sites - you are only seeing deals they have with insurers (who usually pay to be listed) and not all possible offers from all insurers - and they must be taking a cut here. So the cheapest is their cheapest and probably not THE cheapest.

Please do not just focus on price and buy - you would never buy anything else this way. make sure the beenfits are those you need and that there are now exclusions that affect you. This is expecially relevant if you have even visited the doctor in the last year of have absolutely any ongoing medical conditions.

I would love to do a more detailed review of their pricing - but I cannot get their website to load past the first few pages of the travel insurance.

They appear to have changed underwriter recently

The cover they offer seem pretty market standard to me, but with reasonably open pre-existing medical conditions clauses. Check them carefully - but some conditions are allowable without referral.

Family cover rates only apply for up to 2 kids - so larger familiies are probably better off elsewhere.

If something medical goes wrong abroad - make sure you call their emergency medical helpline immediately as costs over £500 are not insured unless pre-agreed by them!
