What an insult (Tesco Travel Insurance)

Advantages: cheap - but there's a reason

Disadvantages: Stingy pay outs, claim airline is responsible

Me and my partner took a recent holiday to Salou in Spain. Tesco Travel Insurance was the cheapest deal so we decided to insure with them. What a mistake that was!!
Just before boarding our return flight to the UK our plane was struck by lightening meaning we couldn't fly. Thomas Cook, the airline we had booked out holiday with, were a complete disgrace (I'll save all of that for another review) and we were stranded for 28 hours in Reus airport (one tiny shop and cockroaches everywhere). All we were offerred to eat during this time was Fish soup and duck. After explaining I was a vegetarain I was told there was no alternative. So I had no option but to purchase my own food. When we finally arrived back in the UK we discovered our luggage had been left outside in the storm!! Everything in our cases was soaked and a lot of the presents we had brought back for family had been ruined along with some of the clothing dye running and ruining our new clothes.
I called Tesco insurance expecting to receive compensation from them. (we also tried to claim from Thomas Cook - who gave us absolutely nothing!!!). We were both offered £20 compensation for out troubles - it didn't even cover the cost of the taxi we had to to get home from the airport as we had arrived after the last bus (which we wouldn't have done if we'd even been 24 hours delayed). After complaining Tesco offered us another £10 - what an insult!!
Never again will i use their insurance!
