Advantages: Cheapest (I think) around, Easy to buy

Disadvantages: need a clubcard but hey thats no problem

Holiday insurance is a must but it is so expensive.

We looked around for not only a cheap one but one that was cheap and gave us a good deal if anything went wrong.

We found it with Tescos of all places.

Tescos has really brought the price of travel insurance down and it is so easy to arrange.

Once you have decided where you want to go, when you want to go, for how long and who you are going with the rest is easy.

All you have to do is have a tescos clubcard. Dont worry if you havent got one as you can get one straight away in Tescos for immediate use.

Next go to Tescos and look along the end shelves where you will find "Travel Insurance" and lots of folders.

You have to then choose the right folder. First choose whether you are going to insure as a single person, a couple or a family. Then choose whether you are going Worldwide/long haul, or Europe. It really is that simple.

We wanted Worldwide for 8 days for a couple and the price was £54.99. Compared to some that price for exactly the same was in the £80 - £90 range.

To buy a "couple insurance" you must both live at the same address.

For that you get up to £2,000,000 medical money, up to £1.250 personal possessions, £100 emergency replacement of personal possessions, £400 personal money, £2,500 cancellation, 2 million personal liability, £2,500 delayed departure and £200 lost passport and legal epenses and disputes up to £15,000

This we found suited us.

To pay for it you take your insurance up to the tills with your tesco clubcard and money.

The cashier will then ask you when you are travelling. You will then find the details on your till receipt and off you go to enjoy your holiday.

If you are not a regular clubcard user you do exactly as you would for a clubcard user but when you get home look at the receipt. On it will be a freephone telephone number for you to
telephone and register your card. You will also be asked when you are going on holiday, the names of the people travelling and your date of birth. When that is completed and it doesnt take long, you too will be insured.

Dont forget that you also get clubcard points for buying the insurance.

If you have a credit card you can save yourself going into tescos and order the insurance over the phone. They will insure you immediately if you wish if not they will send you everything in time for the holiday. This does cost you a couple of pennies more doing it this way.

Whichever way you choose to do it, it is cheap and efficient.

It's not clear whether you need to be a Clubcard holder if you buy by phone on your credit card.
