Advantages: good cover and good price

Disadvantages: none

Being on a tight budget when purchasing a holiday to Singapore from Premier Holidays, we decided to shop around for travel insurance as Premier were asking £50 each for the 10 days and the travel agent we went through could only offer £59 each!!

We checked out Nationwide insurance which was better as we could get a deal for two people for £80 but still decided to see if we could get it any cheaper whilst still having the same amount of cover the others were offering.

I had never even thought of Tesco insurance, infact I don't think I even knew they offered travel insurance, I just happened to be shopping in there and spotted a leaflet at the till. I figured I might as well give them a call just to see what they were offering and what price we could get. The girl I spoke to was very helpful and told me what cover was available and I checked the amounts off against the other quotes I'd had. I think Tesco offered half a million less for hospital bills or something, but considering they all offer millions anyway we decided it was hardly a consideration. Because Tesco offer insurance by the day we managed to get the insurance for £34 each, thus just paying for the 10 days rather than 14 which the others were offering.

The documents arrived a few days later and that was that. Luckily I didn't actually have to use the insurance and so can't comment on that but from what I have seen Tesco travel insurance appears to offer a very similar package to many other insurance companies but with considerable savings.

I looked up their webstie and the number is 0845 300 8800
unfortunately it is not possible to get a quote online but their insurance is by DirectLine and they do online quotes.

I don't have the number - i've thrown the leaflet away but you can find the leaflets at any tesco checkout.
