Advantages: Great service
Disadvantages: None
I must admit, I had never booked with Thomas Cook until a couple of years ago. Reason being is I had always been told they were expensive. It appears nowadays one holiday firm is the same as any other so it blows that theory clean out of the water. They are always very busy when I go in there so that too is a good sign! Recently I booked the holiday of a lifetime for my honeymoon. To make it a bit different, we wanted to spend a bit of time talking it through with someone, have it taylored for us and most of all, plan it properly. This is where the Thomas Cook service took over. We booked an appointment with their "long distance and faraway destination" specialist. This lady was very helpful and lead us off to a room downstairs to sit, drink coffee and deal with us on a 1 to 1 basis away from the masses. She was extremely helpful and advised us on the best and worst things about destinations we mentioned. We settled on a tour of USA and Hawaii which she "built" for us. No package deal for me! Not many modern holiday companies offer this type of personal service. For this, we needed holiday insurance. I have been told its worthwhile shopping around for your insurance. Thomas cook offered us our insurance for £14. Now, I have heard of insurance for £7 in some places but taking their insurance enables us to have big cost savings. Even still saving £14 on our insurance is a drop in the ocean when we are paying £3,000 for a holiday. She did ask us if we wanted frequent holiday insurance. I think this was just a sales technique and we declined. Sometimes companies say insurance is £50 with them but its worth shopping around then. Thomas Cook are not like that and its very reasonable. It was nice to see some still offer Customer service and a choice of insurance. Every time we have booked through them, we have had great service and a great time. Roll on honeymoon.
