Advantages: Easy to Use, Good Quality
Disadvantages: Can be Pricey
There are quite of lot of grass trimmers by Black & Decker and I've used a couple over the years I must say. The one we have at the moment is the 9 inch Cordless Trimmer Edger though there are loads available.
It weighs about 7lb which makes this a really easy gadget to use about the garden. I use this to keep the edges of our lawn in check and also to keep the grass from growing over the pathway. I don't like to run a mower over paving because of an incident some ten years ago involving my head and a chunk of paving. So instead, I use the lawn mower to the edge of the lawn then get the trimmer out to actually cut the edges.
Being cordless means you don't have to worry about splicing through the power cord with this gadget and you don't have to fiddle around with cable as you go either. It runs off a regular 12 volt battery which you can recharge. I've had no problems with the battery lasting and it's still charging up to do the whole lawn (edges) after two years. When you've finished using it, just put it on charge for the night and it'll be ready to go again the next day.
It cost me £40 new and you can still buy the model I have in some stores. More recently they've bought out an 18 volt version of this though and it costs £50 from Argos. It looks as though it's the exact same model I've got but upgraded slightly to go faster. I've always been happy with Black and Decker's grass trimmers so I'm happy to recommend them to others. They're a bit more pricey than other brands but at least you know you're getting something decent when you buy from this brand.
Summary: A Firm Favourite

- 26/04/08 How easy is it to re-attach/reinstall new trimmer cable and how long on average does this trimmer last for in one use before charging again? |
